Kotara Ophthalmology Clinic

The proposed development is a successful change of use to an existing bulk goods warehouse in a traditional Homemakers Centre. The development provided a major internal fit out to adapt the building into premises suitable for a specialist ophthalmology clinic.

 

This busy family professional practice includes three optic surgeons with a dedicated team of support staff. The clinic has provided a clever, unique, efficient circulation and way-finding pathway throughout the building. It enables patients to move easily from reception to eye examination, to surgery, recovery and consult rooms then back to reception without anxiety. The ease of patient flow throughout the building is equalled by the back of house doctor’s accessibility between each area.

 

The project also solved complex construction issues such as flood prone land, earthquake proofing and increased environmental regulations. SHAC navigated the project from land purchase through design, council approval to project managed construction and occupation.
