The 33/11V zone substation in Maitland City Centre sits within a heritage conservation area. The built forms respond to the heritage area through the use of gable roofs and feature brick cladding. Materials and finishes were selected based on a building design life of fifty years with minimal maintenance. The building structure was designed to include factory precast concrete walls and ceilings to save significant time and cost during construction.
